Life has a funny way of coming full circle without even realizing it. Growing up, I was enamored by science, couldn’t get enough of it…which really wasn’t all that surprising. My mom is a scientist, and what little girl doesn’t want to grow up to be just like their mom. However, I couldn’t shake the feeling that deep down I knew I needed something more than science to fulfill my potential. To my surprise a week before college started I switched my major from Biochemistry to this very vague major called Visual Communication Design.
From this path, through design and communication, I was able to combine my love for science with my passion for art; into a career/superpower.
My creative and strategic approach to solving a problem begins with simple questions that will lead me to the point of tension or controversy. From exploring that path further, I can really dial in on the ‘why’ (whether that is from human behavior or history). Then, from listening to the why and testing various ideas, I can reform and deliver.
For me, design that is invisible is the best magic in the world. If I can help contribute to that…through affecting a persons’ everyday habits, while delighting them…then just maybe I can tell my friends, I actually do have superpowers
