Business
Operations software (clocking in & out, completing tasks/checklists, scheduling, inventory) for the restaurant and retail space, available on smartphones and tablets.
Problem to solve
Admins needed to be able to manage availability faster and with more accuracy.
Research
This phase took the longest, and something interesting was discovered. The main pain point that was thought to be at the managerial level, turned out to be a level deeper and really an issue their employees were experiencing. At this discovery more user interviews were conducted and research gathered.
User Journeys & Block-framing
After enough research was conducted to get a couple ideas flowing I started brainstorming. Then as a product design team we discussed and voted on the most promising ideas to prototype and test.
Prototyping
We decided to move forward with three main ideas and to keep the prototyping very simple. At this stage we also prepped the user tests, developing the user story and metrics we wanted to gather.
Findings & Next Steps
After user testing, a majority passed the three tasks provided. However the overall ‘easy’ score I was looking to hit, did not get met. After reviewing the commentary and notes from the tests, the largest pain point for the user was making the request repeating. Switching the order of these pieces I believe should solve this pain, and then will be tested again.
