Business
Workflow building platform; a low code visual language to automate business processes between desired software tools in the midsize services industry.
Problem to solve
After launching the workflow building platform internally, to our mid-level technical persona, we got feedback that building a workflow was still hard to do. To be able to launch externally we needed our non-technical persona to be able to at least configure a workflow to receive value.
User Journeys
In order to deliver value quickly to our users we needed our non-technical Jason persona to be able to at least configure a workflow.
So we decided to test if this user could:
- Discover how to navigate to the workflow editor
- Configure a workflow
- Build a workflow
User Testing
We conducted several user tests through maze.co while there live with the users to hear them talk through their process.'
Our hypothesis was that the user would be able to configure but not build.
Results
The test results came back more positive than our hypothesis. Everyone was able to configure a workflow very easily and some users even jumped straight into building a workflow with relative ease.
We did notice that once the user was in the platform they were getting distracted by the navigation and some visual noise. So I created new iterations with these pains taken care of and even some new concepts to get the user to the value of the automation even faster.
